2019 was a busy year for Culture Recordings; Flo Perlin released her eagerly awaited Stories EP and went on to be selected to join the Nest Collective’s AMPLIFY talent development programme for diverse emerging creators in Folk, World & Roots music.
Shrouded in mystery and broken tape recorders Threads* released GrafikTrafik and collaborated with Filmmaker Jamie Isbel and Dancer Eloise Sheldon in the beautiful accompanying film. 2020 will see further releases from Threads* over the coming months, culminating in the release of their debut EP Infinity forever*
2020 will also see the release of Josh Geffin’s upcoming EP on Culture Recordings, blending his mercurial fingerpicking style with beautiful melodies and americana-tinged songwriting.
We are also super-excited to launch our Arts Council funded Soundscape Poetry Project; pairing poetry with original and bespoke audio landscapes, we aim to encourage people who may not usually interact with spoken word poetry to recognise and engage with this evocative art form. We have enlisted the brilliance of the poets Rachael Boast, Kirsten Irving, Malaika Kegode and Tim Turnbull, and will be holding a competition in early 2020 to discover a New Voice in Poetry.
Welcome to 2020!
